The Retreat Beach Club
The Retreat new Beach Club has been completed.
The revamped Beach Club includes two levels with gulf views; a state-of-the-art, negative-edge heated pool; 600 square feet of air conditioned space to accommodate community functions; and, new furniture and landscaping to complete the significant upgrade.
A completely renewed facility that will foster more community interaction, spaces for events and social gatherings - with a focus on the world class gulf views and of course a perfect backdrop for evening sunsets.
This major renovation project brings the new beach club up to the level of the design rich houses in the neighborhood while keeping the understated elegance of the Retreat’s Caribbean rooted style.
To accomplish these goals, the Retreat put together a team of experts – Tim McNamara as the architect and Gulf View Construction as the contractor - who had not only the design and craftsmanship capabilities, but also the experience to navigate a renovation of this scale.
A new, second level gathering space has been added to the existing structure, to accommodate large events as well as smaller intimate gatherings. The upper level also provided panoramic views of the Gulf to the south as well as rich wetland preserve views to the north.
The existing structure to the east was converted to an indoor gathering space with several seating groups, a kitchen, a fireplace and television area, and views to the southwest, framed by the 14-foot-high windows to provide additional Gulf and sunset views. The structure to the west was converted to a clean, modern bathroom facility.
The existing pool was removed and replaced with a state-of-the-art negative edge pool that gives the feel of an extension of the Gulf waters onto the pool terrace. Each end of the pool is framed with three medjool palms to provide some needed shade in the heat of the day and the lounge chairs and umbrellas provide comfort for a nap or a good book.
Gas lanterns and low-level lighting give the evening and nighttime events a magical feeling when mixed with a cool Gulf breeze. An indoor golf cart parking area with a roll-up door and new drive for easy access has been created at the ground level partially under the pool terrace and upper structures.

The Retreat, off 30A in Blue Mountain Beach, enjoys unique positioning on 3,000 feet of private beach and a privacy and tranquility that is unmatched along Scenic Highway 30A. It offers a unique sense of arrival through a gated drive, bordered by conservation areas around Draper Lake and Coastal Dunes. Short-term rentals are not permitted.
